Restored Craftsman in the Upper East

Restored to perfection, River Rock Cottage is perched on a quiet corner in the quaint Upper East neighborhood of Santa Barbara. In true Craftsman style, the classic architectural elements have been preserved, honoring the original integrity of this vintage 1917 home.

In December 2011, River Rock Cottage was awarded the distinguished SANTA BARBARA BEAUTIFUL AWARD for having transformed a once hidden treasure, to a stand out masterpiece in this Upper East neighborhood.

Wax nostalgic as you relax in the Adirondack chairs on the welcoming wrap-around front porch, with its smooth river rock walls, carved railings, and Craftsman curb appeal. An old oak tree becomes a shady canopy over the outdoor bistro table. This creates another great setting from which to enjoy the country garden below, or a great place to watch the kids playing on the front lawn.

Through the brick-red front door, the cheerful interior is steeped in charm. Original cottage-style windows offer views of the leisurely neighborhood pace outside. The living room furnishings invite conversation in front of the wood burning fireplace. Enjoy relaxed reading with a book from the well-stocked library in the built-in bookshelves. Wainscoting, maple plank flooring, and vintage lighting make this space warm and welcoming.

The Master Bedroom is directly off the living room and features a California King size bed, flat screen LED TV and more bright sunshine from corner windows.

The second bedroom has a whimsical wrought iron Queen size bed and plenty of storage with built-in cupboards.

Between the two bedrooms is the "Jack and Jill" bathroom that features dual sinks set in Carrara marble. A claw footed tub with rain shower head and handheld sprayer complete this functional bathroom. There is also a convenient powder room off the Living Room.

Even on vacation, comfort means home-cooked meals for family and friends. In the sunny galley-style kitchen, the classic restored Wedgewood stove and yellow retro-style refrigerator add whimsical ambiance. A love seat and antique breakfast table are tucked below corner windows that offer lovely views of the country garden overflowing with white roses, lavender, and culinary herbs.

Just outside the kitchen is the barbecue area, complete with a brand new gas barbecue and a collection of recreation toys including sand toys, boogie boards,and surf boards. After a day of fun in the sun, a great outdoor shower on the back porch keeps the beach sand outside!
